A previously undeveloped patch of farm land in Burnett Heads may soon become home to more than 100 families if a new application lodged with Bundaberg council gets the green light.
The proposal, to be developed in seven stages, would open up 140 residential lots on a 24ha site at Rowlands Rd, which connects Port Bundaberg to Oaks Beach.
The lots will be between 707sq m and 1015sq m, and will include a park.

The Development Directive, which lodged the application on behalf of the Rickert Family Trust, said the development would turn the existing grassy lots and cane fields into a new community.
“Conveniently located on the edge of the existing Burnett Heads township, the site represents an excellent opportunity to expand the residential areas making best use of existing and proposed infrastructure,” the development application says.
“Local park and a series of new pedestrian connections ties the site into the existing community.”
The new housing development will be close to existing infrastructure including the ongoing development at Oceanside RV Lifestyle Village.
“The existing Burnett Heads community is well serviced by existing footpath network that aligns with the main traffic routes and provides extensive paths along the eastern foreshore,” the developers say.
“The proposed development acknowledges the existing the network and integrates with this to provide safe and accessible access to key facilities including, eastern foreshore parkland, school, parklands and retail and community facilities.”
