A self-represented Mr Duong applied for bail which was opposed by police prosecutor Senior Constable Andrew Powis.

“I didn't do anything wrong,” the defendant told the court, before mumbling and swearing.

Magistrate John McInnes said Duong had not shown cause as to why he should be released.

“I haven't heard anything that really tells me why your custody isn’t justified,” Mr McInnes told him.

Mr Duong’s matter will move to a higher court, and is due for mention again in December.

He remains in custody.
