Bundaberg police are investigating after two people allegedly fled the scene of a crash that involved a vehicle doing burnouts.

A statement released this week said that between 1.25pm and 1.45pm on Saturday, October 12, a single-vehicle crash happened at the intersection of McCarthy Road and McLachlan Drive, Avenell Heights.

Upon crashing the vehicle, two people have run from the scene along McCarthy Road towards Elliott Heads Road, they said.

One of the people was described as wearing a red shirt while the other was described as overweight with a short, tied up mullet and wearing a white shirt.

Prior to this, police will allege that the vehicle was conducting burnouts in the vicinity of the area, particularly along McLachlan Drive between Keys Street and McCarthy Road.

The vehicle involved is a 2009 Silver Ford Falcon Sedan bearing Qld Registration 092IV9.

Police are requesting assistance from any witnesses, dash cam or CCTV footage of the incident.
