Jenelle Maureen Wilkinson was given a two month suspended jail sentence for being a public nuisance.

A Bundaberg woman in her 50s was given a suspended jail sentence on Monday, January 17, for telling an 11-year-old girl her mother “sucks c--- for an eightball” and following up with “sorry, but it’s true”.

The term “eightball” refers to the measurement of one eighth of an ounce of a drug.

The court heard Janelle Maureen Wilkinson had a history of alcohol issues and was drunk and on bail for other charges on October 8, 2021, when she went to a Thabeban home at 9pm, and unleashed the tirade.

An 11-year-old girl was in the front area of the house at the time, copping Wilkinson’s abusive behaviour.

Wilkinson refused pleas for her to leave and when a man emerged from the home, she levelled accusations at him and then challenged him to a fight.

Wilkinson then threw a chain and padlock in the general direction of the man, the court heard.

It heard she also had a long history of public nuisance and violence offences.

Magistrate Trinity McGarvie said people in the community expected to feel safe in their own homes.

Wilkinson, who appeared via videolink, pleaded guilty to one count of public nuisance in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday and was given a two-week suspended jail sentence.
