Bundaberg police investigate after gel blaster shot from car

Police are looking for the people responsible for an alleged gel blaster ‘drive-by’ across Bundaberg.

Police are investigating an incident where a white ute is alleged to have been driven through East Bundaberg and the CBD while the occupants illegally discharged gel blasters from the car.

The offence is alleged to have happened from 5-8pm on Wednesday, April 13.

Bundaberg police are investigating the matter.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Policelink on 131 444, quoting QP2200630458.

Information can also be given via Crime Stoppers by calling 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestoppersqld.com.au.

Last year, a law was passed in Queensland making it an offence to carry an unconcealed gel blaster in public, including ensuring they are not visible in a car in case someone thinks they are firearms.

Police guidelines state it is important to also store gel blasters in locked cupboards and out of the way in the home.

According to police, gel blasters look identical to various handguns, shotguns and rifles from around the world.

The colour, size and detail of these gel blasters make it difficult for anyone to note the difference between a toy and a real firearm.

If a person is found guilty of an offence where a gel blaster was used, they may receive a monetary penalty or term of imprisonment.
