Anxious Bundaberg region parents have taken to social media after a man alleged tried to beckon children over to a white van on several occasions.

A user posted to the Innes Park & Coral Cove Facebookers page on February 3, warning people about the incident.

“Keep an eye out around Innes Park for an older white van with a creepy looking guy trying to beckon little children over to his van,” the post read.

Another Facebook user alleged a similar thing had happened to her granddaughter.

“He wound down his window and beckoned with his hand and tried to entice my little granddaughter and her friends to his car, but they had the sense to ignore him and ran as fast as they could into the house,” she said.

“Please talk to your children about stranger danger.”

A post was also shared to the Bargara Facebookers page on Friday, February 4, warning of a van, with a Bargara mother saying she had reported a similar incident to police.

“I called the Bargara police today as a guy in a white van tried to get my daughter and her friend to go over to him. The girls screamed and he sped off.”

Another user commented that something similar had happened at Elliott Heads.

“Yes, this happened to my friend’s kids in Elliott Heads. It was reported to the police at the time but they couldn’t do anything as he technically didn’t do anything wrong,” they said.

The NewsMail contacted Queensland Police to confirm these incidents had been reported, but they responded saying “we’ve had no reports similar to this”.

Dawn from Burnett Heads Neighbourhood Watch told the NewsMail she had replied to comments on local pages urging people to come forward with their information.

“Get a rego number, a photo of the car and try to get a photo of the person’s face,” she said.

Burnett Heads Neighbourhood Watch have invited the public to attend their Coffee With A Cop session at Kelly’s Cafe, Burnett Heads on Thursday, February 10, from 9:30am-11:30am to speak to police about any concerns they may have regarding any issues in their local area.
