A man in his early 20s was rushed to hospital Monday morning after a box full of steel fell on his legs at an Alloway workplace.

The man was loading steel onto a rack when the rack gave way with a box of steel falling onto his legs and feet about 7.40am.

The box is understood to have weighed at least 100kg.

The man was initially treated for his injuries before being taken to hospital.
