Man flown to Bundaberg Hospital after diving on Lady Elliot Island

A man was taken to a Qld hospital after nearly drowning while diving at an idyllic tourism destination off the coast of Bundaberg.

Man in 60s flown to hospital after nearly drowning at island hotspot

The Bundaberg-based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter crew has flown a man to hospital this afternoon after a near drowning incident.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the crew was tasked to Lady Elliot Island about 11am.

A RACQ Lifeflight spokesman said it was believed the man, aged in his 60s, was diving off the island when he failed to surface.

The patient was flown to the Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.
