Man dies following car and cyclist crash at Gooburrum

An 89-year-old man has died at the scene of a crash involving a car and a bicycle north of Bundaberg.

An 89-year-old man has died after an accident while he was cycling north of Bundaberg.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at Tantitha Rd, Gooburrum, about 4.30pm on Thursday, with police saying it’s believed the man was riding west when his bike and a car travelling in the same direction collided.

The accident occurred at the intersection with Gooburrum Rd.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said the man sustained “traumatic injuries” and CPR was performed but he died at the scene.

An 18-year-old woman who was driving the car was not physically injured.

Police urged anyone who witnessed the crash, or who might have dashcam footage, to come forward.
