North Burnett Regional Council has announced its interim CEO after the shock resignation of Rachel Cooper and Mayor Rachel Chambers.
At its general meeting today, the council endorsed Ray Burton PSM to commence as interim CEO on January 17 until a permanent replacement is found.
“We have had the pleasure of Ray being our interim CEO twice before,” acting Mayor Robbie Radel said.
“His knowledge of our region and local government in general will support councillors and our staff, as we continue to deliver services, deliver a budget for next financial year and recruit for a new CEO.”
Corporate and community general manager Susan Glasson will be acting CEO from December 17 until Mr Burton commences.
“Ms Glasson has shown her leadership capability as our general manager and has acted in the CEO role previously,” Mr Radel said.
“We are so lucky to have this depth of leadership in our staff who can step up into these key positions when required.”
Rachel Cooper, who will finish up with the council on December 16, announced her resignation on November 24.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the North Burnett and have forged some wonderful friendships with fantastic people,” Ms Cooper said.
“The Mayor and councillors are the most dedicated and passionate local leaders I have had the good fortune to work with.”
Cr Chambers resigned as Mayor in September quoting personal reasoning in a video posted to Facebook.
She said personal and “life-changing” events over the past few months had served as a “wake-up call as to how life needs to be lived” and forced her to rethink her priorities.
