Man charged for damaging local field with burnouts thanks to quick public response
Police arrived in time to catch a driver performing burnouts, ripping up turf at a Bundaberg sports field.

A man has been charged with hooning offences after allegedly doing significant damage to a Bundaberg sporting field.
Police were called to a local sporting complex around 10pm on Thursday, March 23 after the public saw several vehicles being driven onto the ground which then performed burnouts.
Pictures provided by police show the field scarred with deep overlapping tyre tracks.
Thanks to the quick action of the public, police arrived at the field in enough time to catch the offender in the act.

An 18-year-old Bargara man was charged with wilfully make unnecessary noise or smoke, trespassing, defective vehicle and wilful damage.
The registration plates from his vehicle, a green Ford Falcon utility, were seized by police for a period of 90 days.
The man will appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on April 21.
“Bundaberg Police would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated and we will continue to impound vehicles and seize registration plates of any vehicles involved in these types of offences,” a Queensland Police spokesperson said.
“If you drive within the law, you won’t be affected. Go too far, you can lose your car.”
