Sightings of an unexplained phenomena in the skies over Bundaberg in November have baffled local residents who say it’s unlike anything they’ve seen before.
Rural resident Trevor, who lives at Sharon, posted to the Australian UFO Sightings Facebook group saying he woke up about 12.30am on November 20, to go to the bathroom when he noticed that the usually loud flying foxes that feasted in the palm trees near his home were “dead silent”.
The eerie feeling created by the white noise had Trevor looking up towards the trees when he saw something in the sky that he still can not explain to this day.
“I noticed a greenish glow in an easterly direction and was trying to work out what it was,” he said.
“A large triangular object came into view and it was silvery with a number of lights with some red, others blue or white and I have no idea how high it was but I know it was huge, at least twice the size of a 737.”
Speaking to the NewsMail, Trevor said the object made not a sound, and it could not have been a drone because of its enormous size and shape.
“This thing dropped out of the clouds and rested just below the clouds and there was dead silence,” he said.
“It didn’t make a noise and nor did anything else.
“For 30 seconds I watched it, and then it went behind some trees at the back of the house and disappeared.
“It took off at such a speed it was unbelievable and you couldn’t follow it with your eyes.”
Trevor’s experience was backed up by another Facebook user who claimed they had also witnessed the object two nights prior.
“Bundy region here as well and we were driving Thursday night (18/11) and saw something very similar,” the comment read.
“When we got home, I stood outside for a while to see if I could see it again but nothing.
“You are not alone in what you saw.”
A woman named Karen also commented, sharing her own history of sightings at Baffle Creek, situated between Bundaberg and Gladstone.
“I lived at Baffle Creek for a while and every single night we would lay back and watch the show,” she said.
“I think most action was between 8:15 and 9 thirty (sic).
“(It’s a) hot spot there.”
UFO experts have long associated UFO sightings with severe weather events, with some claiming to have found correlations with sightings and changes to weather patterns.
Interestingly, the La Nina that caused wet weather to lash the Bundaberg region in November, causing the region’s wettest November since 1934, happened just after the alleged sightings took place.
Trevor said he had a similar experience when he lived at Pine Creek, north of Bundaberg.
“I saw one when we had stormy weather at Pine Creek and definitely think they could have something to do with the storms,” he said.
A separate weather event in the Wide Bay region occurred at the same time as another sighting in October, when Brad Trotter captured an image of a large, bright, “pulsating” object in the sky one night before a severe weather warning was put in place for Bundaberg and Hervey Bay.
In March, Bundaberg local Justin Jones shared a video (below) from his home security camera that showed an object appearing and then suddenly disappearing into the night sky.
The strange, ongoing phenomena has baffled Bundaberg residents.
“I suspect the objects are drawn to this area for some reason,” Trevor said.
“There must be a reason why they keep coming back.”
