Inside plans for new Kalkie 10-unit complex

If approved it will be the latest slice of an ever growing development pie for Kalkie, with a 199-lot subdivision approved by the Bundaberg council in March and a 50-unit development nearby approved in June.

A new 10-unit complex is proposed to be built on a vacant block of land at Kalkie, adding to a growing number of housing developments planned in the suburb.

Kalkie continues to be a hot spot for housing growth in the Bundaberg region, with a new proposal to build 10 units on a vacant Jealous Rd block.

Land owners Kerrie and Jeff Skilton have lodged plans with Bundaberg Regional Council to transform their 0.3ha block into a 10-unit complex.

Six of the units will have three bedrooms and a double-car garage.

The remainder will have four bedrooms.

All 10 units, which include three two-storey buildings, have their own backyards.

The Kalkie unit complex will be a mix of one and two storey buildings.

Eight visitor parking spaces will be provided.

The block is zoned low density residential under the planning scheme but the Skilton’s development application says a pre-lodgement meeting with the council identified it was “consistent” with the council’s vision for the area.
