JUST days after revealing his proposed $70 million Master Planned residential development for Innes Park North, Bundaberg property developer Bill Moorhead has made another announcement.

Mr Moorhead says he hates the name Innes Park North and wants to rename the entire suburb Bargara South.

"I reckon Innes Park North is an absolute crap name and everyone I talk to in Innes Park North who lives there doesn't like it either," Mr Moorhead said.

"What I want to do is, I want to try and get the community to support a name change to Bargara South.

Mr Moorhead said he understood some people would not like the idea but believed the "vast majority" or the community would.

"People around Australia know where Bargara is, no-one's heard of Innes Park, no-one's heard of Moore Park, no-one's heard of Burnett Heads," Mr Moorhead said.

"It means nothing to anyone but locals. But everyone's heard of Bundaberg and everyone's heard of Bargara."

Mr Moorhead said he'd been thinking about it for some time.

"Between Rifle Range Creek going south, between there and the existing Innes Park, that should be Bargara South," Mr Moorhead said.

He believed the name change would help property prices too because, "everyone wants to live in Bargara".

Mr Moorhead said the people he'd spoken to who live in Innes Park North were fully behind him and said the Bundaberg Regional Council was too.

The determined developer said he was already calling his development Headlands Estate at Bargara South.

"I'm pre-empting it, it's even on all my plans, it's on everything," Mr Moorhead said.

But the council's Planning and Development spokesman Ross Sommerfeld said Innes Park North was not a registered suburb.

"While it is often referred to as Innes Park North by residents, this locality is Innes Park," he said.

Cr Sommerfeld said if the name of any location were to be changed, an application needed to be made to the State Government.

"Council is unaware of any such application," Cr Sommerfeld said.
