Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has fined two Bundaberg dentists after they failed to meet asbestos protocols.
Local dentists Clint Haddon and Eva Kot are the trustees of the Haddon Kot Discretionary Trust.
Dr Haddon is a dentist at Coral Coast Dental, while Dr Kot works between Coral Coast Dental and Acclaim Dental.
The Bargara Palms Motel, an accommodation property owned by the trust, is known to provide accommodation to backpackers and seasonal workers.
During a recent inspection of the Bargara Palms Motel, a Workplace Health and Safety investigator found that Dr Haddon and Dr Kot did not have an asbestos register or asbestos plan in place.
“Workplace Health and Safety Queensland has issued an infringement notice to Haddon Kot Discretionary Trust for not having an asbestos register or asbestos plan prepared, as the persons with management and control of the Bundaberg Palms Motel,” a Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said they were also issued with two improvement notices “to ensure this is rectified”.
The NewsMail put questions to Dr Haddon and Dr Kot but no response was given by deadline.
It’s believed Kwik Lift Pty Ltd has been hired to provide an asbestos management plan and register.
