Foundation co-ordinator Julie Anderson said the charity ball, to be held at the multiplex, was a chance for people to dress in elegant gowns and dapper suits, enjoy each other’s company and revel in the elegance of Hollywood.

“It’s going to be an amazing evening of glamour, fine food, premium beverages and internationally acclaimed entertainment,” she said.

Respect – The Aretha Franklin Story will be a highlight of the evening.

The Respect Show stars Australia’s “soul mama” Angie Narayan.

Respect journeys through Aretha Franklin’s courageous life of love, traged and triumph, while showcasing her greatest hits over the last 50 years.

Expect Natural Woman, Think, Say A Little Prayer, I Knew You Were Waiting for Me, Son of a Preacher Man, Chain of Fools and many laugh-out-loud moments.

The inaugural Friendlies Foundation Ball was held in 2021 where 400 guests enjoyed a James Bond Casino Royale-themed evening, raising more than $130,000.

All funds raised from this year’s charity ball will go directly to the Friendlies Foundation Accommodation Project, which is a two-story, 16-unit complex to accommodate patients’ families, junior doctors, nurses and remote staff.

Work on the project is hoped to begin during 2023 and will be constructed adjacent to The Friendly Hospital.

Tickets are $150 per person or $1500 per table of 10.

Tickets include drinks on arrival, canapés, dinner, dessert and entertainment.

The dress code is elegant evening attire with black tie optional.

“The ball will be a fantastic night,” Julie said.

“People’s support ... will bring us closer to achieving our goal of constructing our Accommodation Project which will benefit our community by keeping families together when travelling from afar to access treatment.”
