A Bundaberg father faced the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on Monday after two warrants were issued for his arrest.

Corey John Roll, 31, pleaded guilty to 11 charges including four drug possession charges, twice failing to appear in court, possessing a restricted item, possessing a utensil used in connection with a drug, possessing property, and possessing an s4 medicine.

Police prosecutor Claire Bibby told the court police stopped and searched Roll’s blue Holden Rodeo on August 23, finding methamphetamine, MDMA, scales and a laser pointer.

He was taken to the Bundaberg watch house and given a notice to appear in court, but he failed to show.

A warrant was issued for his arrest and he signed an undertaking to appear in November.

On September 10, police stopped the same car being driven by Roll, and found MDMA and scales, the court heard.

He signed another undertaking to appear in court in November but again failed to show, and an arrest warrant was issued.

At 8am on November 15, police stopped the blue Holden again, finding cannabis in a backpack, two digital scales and four Modafinil tablets that were not prescribed.

Roll’s lawyer told the court his client had a history of offending between 2016 and 2018, but cleaned up his act and had found work at a mill while being a father to two young children.

He then left his job and was on Jobseeker when he turned to drug use this year following a relationship breakdown.

Magistrate Trinity McGarvie took into consideration Roll had not been before a court since 2018, but condemned his actions.

“The fact that the offending occurred even though you were charged with the offences in August, you still continued to involve yourself with drugs until the 10th of November,” she said.

He was fined a total of $550 and placed on probation.

A conviction was recorded.
