Construction on new McDonald’s car park to get underway with plans for new drive-thru at Bundy West

New projects at two Bundaberg McDonald’s stores will reportedly inject more than $1.4m into the local community and serve up local jobs: Here’s what’s cooking.

Work is expected to begin on the new McDonald’s car park on Targo St this week.

McDonald’s will inject more than $1 million into the Bundaberg economy with two projects planned, one of which is expected to get underway as soon as this week.

Work will finally begin on a new car park at the Targo St McDonald’s, more than two years after the former Salvation Army Citadel building was torn down.

The new car park will have room for 29 parking spaces for customers.

The NewsMailreported in May 2019 that the fast food chain had submitted a material change of use application to Bundaberg Regional Council for the car park in 2018.

This investment is expected to inject about $750,000 into the local economy through hiring workers and other construction related expenditure.

But those aren’t the only plans they are serving up.

This week the chain lodged a minor change application with council for reinvestment projects at the restaurant on Takalvan St, which are expected to be a further $700,000 spend in local economy.

A spokeswoman for McDonald’s Australia revealed that if the application was approved projects would include a new dual lane drive-thru and improved traffic circulation in the car park.

“These changes will help us continue to serve the community and provide customers with the best possible Macca’s experience,” the spokeswoman said.

As well as these two projects, the fast-food chain is currently hiring for 20 positions across their two Bundaberg stores.

The roles include a variety of part time, full time and casual positions across their crew, management, maintenance and barista teams.

Bundaberg McDonald’s licensee Craig Manley said he looked forward to providing essential jobs to the community.

“There are a variety of positions available in our crew, management, barista and maintenance teams,” he said.

“We are proud to employ people of all ages and experience levels, offering a supportive working environment, outstanding training and development opportunities and the flexibility to suit all circumstances.

“We look forward to providing essential jobs to members of the local Bundaberg community.”
