A man’s life was saved on Tuesday when rural fire fighters passing the scene of a horror crash pulled an unconscious man his car second before it exploded in flames west of Bundaberg.
Emergency crews were called to the scene of the crash on Tableland Rd at Daylsford, east of its intersection with Daylsford Rd, about 9.50am Tuesday.
The car reportedly veered off the road, rolled, crashed into a ditch and burst into flames.
A source who asked to remain anonymous said the man, unconscious at the time, was pulled from the wreckage by two rural firefighters who drove past the scene of the crash shortly after it happened.
The engine bay was on fire at the time he was rescued, and the car was fully engulfed within 90 seconds after he was pulled free.
A Queensland Ambulance Services spokeswoman said the man was taken to Bundaberg Hospital with an arm injury.
