In her short time working as a child care educator Macy Wallis has proven she has a long and successful career ahead of her.
The Grow Early Education child care educator emerged from a strong field of 30 Bundaberg educators to claim the top spot in the Bundaberg NewsMail’s online search for the best of 2023.
Ms Wallis received 21 per cent of the vote to be a clear winner, five percentage points ahead of her nearest rivals Tasma, also from Grow Early Education, and Bec from Acorn East who tied for second place.

Third place was a tie between Bree from St Luke’s Anglican Early Learning Centre and Jodie from Bears and Books.
Bundaberg born and raised, Ms Wallis is realising a lifelong dream to work with children having been a child care educator for four years.
Watching the children grow and develop under her care is the part of the job that Ms Wallis, 22, finds most rewarding.
“I am a very calm and enthusiastic lead educator who bases the children’s learning and experiences off their own interests,” she said.
“My favourite part of the job is being able to provide care for little children each day, and watching them reach milestones and all kinds of achievements makes the job enjoyable and fulfilling.”
The overwhelming support for Ms Wallis could be due to her strong focus on good communication with parents and carers.
“I believe it is important to build strong relationships with families and their children to ensure the best care is provided to their children by having open communication,” she said.
With Grow Early Education having two educators on the podium for the 2023 title, Ms Wallis said the centre’s broad and flexible curriculum and supportive environment for educators were some of the key reasons for its success.
“We offer a number of extra-curricular activities to extend on the children’s interest and enhance their learning,” she said.
“We have a supportive management structure, who are always very supportive and continually encourage all staff to be the best version of themselves, making Grow an enjoyable place to work.”
