Bundaberg’s 10 highest property sales for 2023 revealed

Bundaberg’s house prices increased at the highest rate in all of Queensland in 2023, resulting in some jaw-dropping sales. Take a look inside the most expensive and who snapped them up.

With Bundaberg experiencing the highest growth in house prices in 2023 in Queensland, it is no surprise to see some eye-watering numbers among the top sales in the region this year.

Inflation and a bounce-back following the pandemic, with more interstate travellers relocating, were the main contributors to the average house price in Bundaberg increasing 15.19 per cent, higher than the state average of 5.26 per cent.

This increase brought the median house price up to $555,000, and realestate.com.au shows the beachside suburb of Bargara has the highest prices with a median of $675,000.

The latest Australian Bureau of Statistics data shows there were 2477 house sales in Bundaberg in the 12 months ending June 30, 2023.

372 Langbeckers East Road, Alloway

Sale date and price: $13.1m, April

The most expensive house sold in Bundaberg in 2023 owes its hefty price tag to the extensive land package included with the home.

Along with the four-bedroom family home, the sale included 121.07ha of farmland broken up into six lots around Alloway and Goodwood.

The single storey home has a spacious entertainment area and large timber deck at the front of the property.

The house and land package was purchased from local investor Paul Martens by the International Agriculture Investment Fund, an international pension fund run in Australia by local subsidiary of the US Westchester Group.

According to realestate.com.au, the house last sold in 2005 for $740,000 and is currently listed as a rental property.

31 Esplanade, Bargara

Sale date and price: $4.2m, June

This five-bedroom home at the southern end of the Esplanade is superbly located, with uninterrupted ocean views from many rooms and the timber deck on the second storey.

It includes a pool and Japanese-inspired living room opening out to a covered entertaining area at the rear of the home.

The property is a short walk to the Bargara beach and retail precinct and Bargara Golf club.

The property was bought by owner-occupiers Alan and Joanne Loeskow from Trina Simpson.

It last sold for $1.1m in 2016.

14 Miller Street, Bargara

Sale date and price: $2.6m, April

This block of four one-bedroom flats with private access to Kellys Beach was bought by Kellys Beach Escape Pty Ltd from investor Kimsey Laurence Hill.

The company was first registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission in April, with Gin Gin-based Guiliano Gastaldon listed as the director.

Bargara Real Estate has the units listed for rent at $345 per week.

The property was last sold in 2017 for $1.2m.

40 Woongarra Scenic Drive, Bargara

Sale date and price: $2.3m, February

A Mediterranean-style two-story villa occupying a 1012sq m block of land overlooking Kellys Beach, this four-bedroom statement home was purchased by Andrew and Zoe Lewis in February from investor Vicki James after a year on the market.

The two family rooms in the home overlook a saltwater swimming pool, with a private al fresco dining area to make the most of the sea breeze.

The property last sold for $110,000 in 1997.

57 Woongarra Scenic Drive, Bargara

Sale date and price: $2.2m, May

Another Bargara oceanfront home makes the list, this time overlooking Archies Beach.

Built by Darren Hunt Designer Homes, this large open plan three-bedroom home has an entertainment area flowing onto a hardwood deck with uninterrupted ocean views.

The property was purchased by Lisa Steinhardt of Macadamias Australia from the family company, Steinhardt Plantations Pty Ltd.

It last sold for $1m in 2017.

135 Gooburrum Road, Gooburrum

Sale date and price: $2.1m, July

This expansive five-bedroom home sits on a 2.56ha property in rural Gooburrum.

Another Darren Hunt-built home, the open plan living space enjoins an L-shaped outdoor area that wraps around the home.

The property was bought by Desmond-John Loeskow from Gail McCane after 155 days on the market.

The property last sold for $1.8m in 2021.

105 Woongarra Scenic Drive, Bargara

Sale date and price: $2.1m, May

This four-bedroom home on a quarter-acre block extends to the very oceanfront and is a short walk from Archies Beach.

Ideal for families, the master suite occupies the entire upper level, with outdoor living spaces on the ground floor.

The home was bought by a member of the Steinhardt family, Joshua Steinhardt, from Isabel McLean.

The property last sold for $800,000 in 2009.

68A Hanbury Street, Bundaberg North

Sale date and price: $1.8m, February

The first home on the list below $2m, this huge 5,629sq m block extends to the Burnett River waterfront with a private boat jetty.

The two-storey, four-bedroom home has covered entertainment areas and an outdoor pool, with a secluded aspect thanks to there being no neighbours on the western side of the property.

The property was purchased by citrus growers Hamish and Megan Macdonald from Steven Grady after just 74 days on the market.

It last sold for $224,000 in 2011.

401 Woppis Road, Woodgate

Sale date and price: $1.8m, July

This secluded 12.14ha property sits within the Kinkuna National Park close to Woodgate Beach.

The five-bedroom two-storey Queenslander-style home has wraparound hardwood timber verandahs overlooking the Theodolite River with a private boat ramp and jetty.

The property was purchased by Ricky and Gaynor Chambers from Gail Abraham.

It last sold for $56,000 in 1990.

3 Coolanblue Avenue, Innes Park

Sale date and price: $1.8m, January

Rounding out the list is this four-bedroom home with stunning ocean views and private beach access.

Almost 100m of decking wraps around the single-level open-planned home, with a separate living space and private entrance for a guest retreat.

The property was purchased by Robert Bagnall from Glenn Hoffmann after being listed on the market for 44 days.

It last sold for $245,000 in 1997, and underwent extensive renovations in 2006.
