A couple involved in a dramatic e-scooter and car crash is outraged after the 17-year-old rider left the scene without facing charges.

Scooter gets collected by Bundaberg driver.

A collision between a Ford sedan and an e-scooter at a busy Bundaberg intersection has left residents calling for justice after the rider of the e-scooter left the scene without facing charges.

The incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon, about 2.15pm, at the intersection of Lamb and Targo streets involving Eli Goobanko Shaxson, his partner Sharni-Lynn, and other family members.

“The person on the e-scooter was on the wrong side of the road and had no helmet on,” Mr Shaxson said.

Damages left to the sedan were to be completely covered by the owners of the car.

The e-scooter rider, described as a 17-year-old boy, collided with the sedan, impacting the car and rolling onto the window.

Mr Shaxson reported that the rider then stood up, declined medical assistance, and left the scene, saying, “I’m okay, I’m fine”.

Mr Shaxson’s partner, who was driving at the time, was visibly distressed, fearing she was at fault.

“My partner was shaking and crying,” he said.

The police and ambulance arrived shortly after the incident, and the e-scooter rider was arrested.

Despite this, Shaxson expressed frustration over the lack of legal action taken against the rider.

“We went to the police station the next day to talk about what happened,” Mr Shaxson said.

“We were told his hip and leg were sore, but when we asked to press charges, we were told no charges or fines were issued for not stopping at a stop sign, not wearing a helmet and leaving the scene. The police officers just gave him a warning.”

Mr Shaxson and his partner are now left to cover the costs of the damage, as their car was uninsured.

“My partner and I want justice,” he said, noting the financial burden they now faced.

Eli Goobanko Shaxson and Sharni-Lynn Thompson are left disappointed by the lack of action taken against the 17-year-old who was involved in the crash.

The vehicle damage has also impacted their ability to work, as they are now reliant on a single car.

A spokeswoman for the Queensland Police Service confirmed the collision, stating that the investigation is ongoing. “No charges have been laid at this time,” she said.
