Childers man falls into barbed wire fence at Isis Highway, Bundaberg

A man has been rushed to hospital overnight after first slipping down an embankment along a regional Bundaberg highway, and then having his fall stopped in a painful way.

A man in his 70s has been rushed to hospital overnight falling down an embankment near Childers and landing in barbed wire.

Emergency services arrived at the scene around 8:40pm Tuesday after the man fell down an embankment beside the Isis Hwy and became entangled in the fence.

A Queensland Fire Department spokesman said fireys worked for 45 minutes to free the man from the barbed wire.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman said the man suffered injuries to his legs and was taken to Bundaberg Hospital in a stable condition.
