A nine-year-old girl is still fighting for life in the Queensland Children’s Hospital following a shocking head-on crash near Gin Gin that killed a 32-year-old-woman who was driving the car they were in.
The woman was pronounced dead at the horror crash between a red Holden Commodore she and the girl were in, and a white Isuzu D-Max ute headed in the opposite direction along Gin Gin Mount Perry Rd at Moolboolaman.
The vehicles collided near the road’s intersection with Gillens Siding Rd at 7.42am Tuesday.
Two RACQ LifeFlight rescue helicopters were then called in with one landing on the road and the other in a nearby paddock.
The woman suffered critical injuries in the crash.
The girl suffered chest and head injuries and was flown to the Bundaberg Hospital in a critical but stable condition.
She was then transferred to the Queensland Children’s Hospital.
A hospital spokeswoman said Thursday the girl remained in a stable condition.
The driver of the ute, a 24-year-old man, was flown to Bundaberg Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police are appealing for any witnesses or people with relevant dashcam footage to come forward, and an investigation by the Wide Bay Forensic Crash Unit is continuing.
