Mon Repos boardwalk closed off for safety reasons

Queensland Parks and Wildlife say there is no timeline to reopen the rotting boardwalk at Mon Repos.

Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service has closed the far Southern Boardwalk at the end of Mon Repos Road for safety reasons.

A Environment, Science and Innovation Department spokesperson said a recent safety inspection found some of the boardwalk bearers were rotting and splitting, and some of the main supports were fracturing.

“Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service is investigating options to allow for alternate access and use of this beach entry. There is no timeline for reopening at this stage,” they said

The Department of Environmental Science and Innovations website the Southern Boardwalk at the end of Mon Repos Road was closed due to safety concerns.

Access to the beach is still available via the coastal access track to the south (tide permitting), the Mon Repos Turtle Centre boardwalks, and the Moore’s Road car park area.
