The heavy lifting has started with construction underway for a new gym at a busy Avoca shopping centre.
Branyan Drive Shopping Centre, home to a busy IGA, Branyan Cellars bottle shop, AquaGirls takeaway and Split Ends hairdressers will welcome a new gym, with first of the two-stage construction process underway.
The project gained Bundaberg Regional Council approval in July.
According to the development application, the gym will be open 24 hours, seven days a week with three staff on at any one time.
The name of the gym and details of the internal fit out are yet to be announced.
Michael LaCroix, 34, told the NewsMail he’s looking forward to seeing what the gym has to offer after he and his young family moved in to a house at a nearby estate.
“We really love this area, so something like a gym being here on Branyan Drive is really cool,” Michael said.
“I’m looking to join a gym myself, and it’s a huge bonus that it’s gonna be a stones throw from home.”
The new build is owned by one of Bundaberg’s wealthiest businessmen, John Gorza, and Daniel Gorza under Emtom Pty Ltd.
Stage one is currently underway, and is a total of 372 sqm, with stage two less than half of that at 124 sqm.
It’s unknown when the project will be completed.
