CCH Group goes into liquidation following EPA direction notice
A supply and transport firm has folded after 44 years of operation, weeks after receiving an EPA notice over alleged illegal dumping of six tonnes of concrete waste. Here is a full list of their creditors and what they are owed:

A Childers concrete supplier has folded with $7.5 million owed to creditors soon after receiving a directive from the state government about alleged illegal concrete waste.
Sydney-based accounting firm Vincents issued a report on Monday to creditors of CCH Group, trading as Childers Concrete And Haulage, informing them that the company had ceased trading in January 2023 as a result of “poor economic conditions and trading losses”.

Taxes unpaid by the firm led to the tax department initiating enforcement action, which precipitated the appointment of Vincents as liquidators on January 15, 2024.
Investigations by liquidator Nick Combis found CCH Group owed more than $7.4 million to all creditors, with most debt owed to the Australian Taxation Office in the form of $3.2 million in unpaid taxes.
The directors of CCH Group, four members of the Brassington family appointed in 1980, are listed as employees and priority creditors of the company and owed a total of $388,214.
A number of trusts and other corporations related to the directors are also owed a total of $2.4 million.
Other creditors include transport firm Childers Equipment Hire Pty Ltd (owed $400,026), Gulf Concrete Pty. Ltd. (owed $247,009) and Wagners Cement Pty Ltd (owed $58,452).
The company held only $9200 in fixed assets at liquidation, including plant and machinery equipment.
Mr Combis said his investigations into CCH Group are continuing, and he encouraged any creditors with information relevant to the affairs and trading history of the company to contact him.
Prior to the liquidation, CCH Group was served with a direction notice by the Qld Department of Environment and Science regarding concrete waste dumped on a vacant lot near the company’s Childers offices.
The notice, issued on December 6, 2023, said departmental officers had found six tonnes of concrete waste at Ironmonger Drive in Childers.
Given the company does not have a permit to store waste on the site, the EPA notice alleged the waste dump was a breach of the Environmental Protection Act.
CCH Group was ordered to immediately stop dumping waste on the site, and either apply for a permit or provide written documentation that the waste had been removed from the site by March 29, 2024.

The maximum penalty for wilfully contravening the direction notice is $1,288,710.
CCH Group director Danny Brassington did not respond to repeated requests for comment on the company’s liquidation or the EPA direction notice.
