A development application has been approved by Bundaberg Regional Council for four new two-bedroom units on Woongarra St.

Bundaberg will soon have more housing available with a block of four regional housing units getting the green light from council.

Approved late last month, the units will be built at 140 Woongarra St with construction expected to begin at the end of the year.

The material change of use application was lodged with council earlier this year on behalf of Regional Housing Limited proposing a block of four units at the site.

According to the application, each of the proposed units would be a single storey structure with covered alfresco areas and additional open space at the rear that are fenced for privacy.

Each unit would also be fully fenced and have an undercover parking space.

The units will also be close to the Bundaberg CBD, health services and local schools.

The development is part of a plan which will see 36 new housing units built in Bundaberg by June 2023.

In June, a spokesman for RHL told the NewsMail the development of affordable housing helps ensure that households who are unable to access the private rental market due to affordability have a safe and secure place to live.

The spokesman said the development was one of three in the works for the region with plans for another unit block of 16 units to get underway by June next year.
