Bundaberg could have a block of new regional housing units if a development application recently lodged with council is approved.
The application submitted on behalf of Regional Housing Limited proposes four two-bedroom units would be built at 140 Woongarra St.
“The site benefits from being a short distance from the retail and dining options available in the Bundaberg CBD to the northwest, the recreational areas located along the Burnett River to the north and community services including the Friendlies Hospital to the east and the Bundaberg Hospital to the north,” the application says.
“The proposal is for multi-units that would be for permanent residential purposes.”
According to the application, each of the proposed units would be a single storey structure with covered alfresco areas and additional open space at the rear that are fenced for privacy.
Each unit would also be fully fenced and have an undercover parking space.
“The proposed development appropriately increases the number of persons living in the area with access to schools and services,” the application says.
“The proposal would contribute positively to the character of the locality by providing a modern built form that is sensitive to site constraints and that is commensurate with nearby development.
“The modern building exhibits a mixture of finishes, breaks in walls and a building design that provides visual interest while being highly functional and totally consistent with the expected and prevailing character of the area.”
