Authorities close Burnett Bridge to traffic for emergency
Drivers were urged to avoid the Burnett Bridge and surrounding area this morning with authorities shutting the bridge due to a “mental health” emergency.

The Burnett Bridge has been closed by emergency services as they work to resolve what authorities have called a “mental health” matter.
Ambulance services were called to the scene at 6:30am this morning.

The bridge was closed for several hours, and motorists were encouraged to take the Tallon Bridge to gain access to and from North Bundaberg.
It is believed there is no threat to the public, and only one person in involved in the incident.
The incident has been resolved and the bridge is now open to the public.
