One dead, Bruce Highway closed after serious accident at Bluewater, north of Townsville
A person has died and the Bruce Highway has been closed in both directions after a serious accident involving a truck and a car in the state’s north, with authorities warning motorists to avoid the area.

A PERSON has died and the Bruce Highway has been closed in both directions following a serious accident north of Townsville.
The crash involving a truck and a car occurred at Bluewater, north of the city, and authorities say motorists should expect delays or seek an alternative route.
“Initial investigations indicate around 4:30am a B-double truck and a sedan collided on the Bruce Highway,” police said.
“The sole occupant of the sedan was declared deceased at the scene.”

Queensland Fire and Emergency Service reports one person has died after paramedics were called to the scene at around 4:40am where they treated “at least” two people.
The truck driver is stable with minor injuries, while another person is in a critical condition.
The Bruce Highway remains closed currently and the Forensic Crash Unit are investigating.
Police are asking for anyone who may have witnessed, stopped or left the scene prior to police or emergency services arriving, as well as anyone who has relevant dashcam vision to contact police.
