Ekka People’s Day budget: How to enjoy show on budget of $100, $200 or $300

Free attractions, food samples and $5 showbags – we have crunched the numbers to make it easy for a family of four to have a fun day at the Ekka on a budget.

With people’s day around the corner at the Ekka there are many ways families of four can enjoy the fun. From keeping the costs low and enjoying the free show to getting on as many rides a possible. Here is how you can have fun at the Ekka on different budgets.

$100 Budget

Entry to Ekka:

Purchase a Family Pass (for 2 adults and 2 kids)

Price: $88

Activities:

Spend the morning at the Agricultural Hall, get cute and cuddly at the animal nursery, visit the woodchopping arena and watch the night events and fireworks.

Morning tea:

Bring your own or indulge in free gourmet food samples at the Woolworths Fresh Food Pavilion

Price: FREE

Food:

Pop over to The Courier-Mail Showbag Pavilion for a cheese toastie from Toastie Boy

Price: $12 (for 4 toasties)

$200 Budget

Entry:

Buy a family pass for two adults and two children.

Price: $88

Free activities:

Visit the Agricultural Hall and the RACQ Animal Nursery for several free activities including a cooking class, making flower crowns, checking the Agriculture and Pisiculture Displays and Exhibitors and learning about urban farming.

Visit the Paw Patrol Mighty Pups show at the Channel 7 Pavilion which is also free.

Rides:

Visit the Kids Carnival for 2 for 1 rides between 9am to 10.30am

Price: $20

Lunch:

For a mini hot dog for each kid at the Ekka

Price: $3 each, $6 total.

If the parents want something a bit more gourmet, they can each get a plate of dumplings.

Price:$14 for a plate of dumplings, $28 total

More free activities:

Go to the show ring for some shows including an educational show about horses between 11am to 2pm and visit the animal pavilion to cradle a chick. The woodchopping arena will also have many shows throughout the show.

Showbags:

Get four Bertie Beetle show bags.

Price: $5 each bag, $20 total.

Another option is to get two of the many $10 showbags available.

Dessert:

The whole family will be able to eat a Strawberry Sundae for dessert.
