A construction worker who died after a medical episode at a building site in Wacol last month has been identified as Benny Elmer.

Speaking a month after the tragedy, Mr Elmer’s partner Cherie Brown said she felt “lost” without her “best friend”.

“This year has by far been the worst year of my life… I can’t see through the storm right now but I hope there will eventually be a rainbow,” she said.

A GoFundMe has since been created to support the couple’s two children with nearly $6000 raised.

“I spoke to him at 4am and he was gone by 6am…to say I’m mentally and financially struggling is an understatement,” Ms Brown wrote in the fundraiser.

Mr Elmer reportedly had a medical episode at a Douglas Construction site on Barracks Rd about 6am on January 23.

Paramedics rushed to the site but the 37-year-old was declared dead a short time later.

Ms Brown described her partner as a “hardworking, loving father”.

“Benny was the bread winner…our lives are simply shattered beyond belief that he is not coming home to us.”

A Queensland Police spokesman said police would prepare a report for the coroner following the “sudden non-suspicious” death of the man in Wacol.

A Workplace Health and Safety Queensland spokesman said the investigation into the 37-year-old’s death has been completed.

“A report has been prepared for the coroner,” he said.
