Embattled war hero Ben Roberts Smith has confirmed his relationship with his glamorous former employee at the Magic Millions race day.

Controversial former soldier Ben Roberts-Smith forgot his troubles and kicked up his heels with a new love interest at the Gold Coast’s annual Magic Millions race day.

Roberts-Smith, 42, suited up for the VIP event, posing for pictures with beaming, young girlfriend, Sarah Matulin.

The 28-year-old PR and marketing executive looked stunning in a floral mini dress and a fashionable white headpiece.

“I’m really enjoying the day with Sarah at the races,” Roberts-Smith told News Corp.

“This is the day to be on the Gold Coast, with the weather so brilliant and so many great people in the crowd.”

Others in attendance at the exclusive Horizon Enclosure party said the two were cosy, laughing and stayed close to each other throughout the event.

Just last month the Victoria Cross recipient took Ms Matulin home to his family Christmas celebrations in Perth.

It is believed the two met when Ms Matulin began working at Brisbane Channel 7 in mid-2020, where Roberts-Smith is general manager.

Ms Matulin has since left Channel 7 and is working at Ruby PR, which has offices in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast.

Mr Roberts-Smith finalised his split from wife Emma earlier this month, just weeks after the couple sold their sprawling country property.

The four-bedroom home sold for more than $2 million in December.

One of Australia’s greatest modern war heroes, Mr Roberts-Smith is fighting war crimes allegations levelled against him.

Mr Roberts-Smith has denied any wrongdoing during his time in Afghanistan or Iraq.

He has launched defamation action against Channel 9.

A report by the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence released last year found credible information of an alleged 39 unlawful killings by special forces soldiers in Afghanistan, mostly by the SAS.

Roberts-Smith has been linked to some of these alleged killings but denies any wrongdoing.
