IT’S known as a fake and considered sacrilegious by purists, but vegan cheese has become one of the most sought after pizza toppings in Australia.
Requests to add plant-based cheese to pizza orders increased by a whopping 50 per cent across the country last year as more Aussies embraced a meat-free life.
In news also set to shock and anger pizza traditionalists, pineapple was the second most popular topping added to the humble crust creation, according to new research from online delivery platform Menulog, which services more than 5600 pizza providers.

Peak ordering time for the Italian favourite came in at 5pm-6pm, however, those with the late-night munchies is on the rise, with a 34 per cent increase in orders between midnight and 2am.
