The best mate of a young man who was killed in a horror crash when his motorbike collided head on with a tow truck has given an emotional tribute to his friend after the tragedy.

Elijah Williams, 21, was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital with critical injuries after he was involved in the crash while riding his Yamaha trail bike on Franklin Drive, Mudgeeraba around 5pm on October 17.

He later died in hospital.

His best mate of almost a decade, Connor Buzetzky, said he couldn’t believe the friend he met at a skate park back in 2015, was gone.

“When Elijah first moved to Queensland, I was the first person he met,” Mr Buzetzky said.

“Back in the day we went to skate park after skate park it was good times.”

Mr Buzetzky said the news of his best mate’s death was “hard to believe” and that he was a popular person.

“He touched so many hearts, he was my best mate and like another brother to me,” he said.

“What made him special was that he was always here for me and he had a lot of love for me, we were so close.

“Elijah will be missed every day”

After moving from Victoria, Mr Williams lived in Mudgeeraba and went to Nerang State High School and Coombabah State High School.

The 41-year-old tow truck driver from Robina was not injured in the crash.

The Forensic Crash Unit is still investigating.
