Two dead, another fighting for life after major highway crash

Two people are dead and another seriously injured after a horror crash in a rural town northwest of Brisbane.

Two people are dead and another seriously injured after a horror crash in a rural town northwest of Brisbane.

The two-vehicle crash happened on the D’Aguilar Hwy near near R. Williams Rd at Wamuran about 3pm on Sunday.

In addition to the two dead, one patient was flown to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Another was taken to Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital by road in a stable condition.

A police spokesman told media a person had been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The crash impacted traffic, with diversions via Gamgee Rd.

Five Queensland Fire Department crews with a support vehicle are on the scene.

A QFD spokesman said multiple people were trapped in the cars.

The highway has been closed in both directions, with major delays expected.

Meanwhile, a man was fighting for life after his car crashed into a pole north of Brisbane.

The accident happened at the intersection of Buchanan Rd and Northerly Ave, Morayfield, about 5pm.

Paramedics were assessing a man with life-threatening injuries after he was trapped in his car for some time.

The Forensic Crash Unit was attending.
