19-year-old man dead, another injured in Townsville motorcycle crash

A 19-year-old man has been killed after a crash involving a motorcycle in North Queensland overnight. His passenger was also hurt in the accident.

A teenage man has been killed and another injured after a serious crash in Townsville overnight.

Two 19-year-olds from Cranbrook were travelling along Riverside Boulevard, Douglas at around 1.15am Sunday when their motorcycle slammed into a tree.

Both men were taken to Townsville Hospital after the incident, however the rider was pronounced dead at 4am.

Emergency services treated the passenger for minor injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is now investigating the incident. Police are calling for any witnesses or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.

It was the second fatal motorbike crash in a matter of hours, after a 29-year-old man from Warner died at the scene of a two-vehicle accident at Cashmere, northwest of Brisbane, about 8pm Saturday.
