What you said on Des Houghton questioning if David Crisafulli will be one-term wonder as Premier
Is David Crisafulli a one-term wonder or plain wonderful? The debate is heating up. HAVE YOUR SAY
One-term wonder or just wonderful?
David Crisafulli’s tenure as Queensland Premier is up for debate after Courier-Mail columnist Des Houghton speculated voters may not be convinced in his performance.
“Could the Premier lead the LNP to an inglorious drubbing at the next election? Possibly,” he wrote.
“I hate to say so but the truth is the Queensland LNP could be dragged under by the political whirlpool engulfing the federal coalition.
“The delayed Liberal Party decision to follow the National Party in scrapping net zero emissions targets has caused internal bitterness, division and uncertainty.
“That will take time to heal.”
So what is the danger for Mr Crisaulli?
“That said the next state election is not due until October 28, 2028, under the new fixed, four-year parliamentary terms model and Crisafulli himself has performed well,” Houghton wrote.
“The opinion poll conducted at the time of the LNP’s one-year anniversary was not a disaster for Crisafulli, but it was not a glowing endorsement either.”
Readers piled into the conversation, with many backing the Premier to continue in his role for a long time.
Others, though, said he has already made too many mistakes.
While some were unsure and questioned if Labor’s poor performance was the biggest factor.
In an online poll more than 80 per cent of readers voted that Crisafulli is safe for a second term.

WHAT YOU SAID
go Dave!
Greg and Mrs Greg
You must be joking Des, DC is the best thing to happen to our State and is showing the rest of them how it’s done! The Victorians can’t move here fast enough Mrs G
Chris
Crisafulli is doing a very good job in my opinion. He’s not buckling under union pressure. He’s making tough decisions for what’s best for QLD.
Michael
A very weak attempt, Des. This guy and his government are doing more than good for the state.
Andrew
Crisafulli is demonstrating integrity and good judgement as far as I can tell. That being said, every government needs a strong opposition, and Labor provides that.
Not a fan

What has he actually accomplished? hes delivered a few of Labors projects but nothing he has promised has been delivered or even looks like being delivered. And the Contrarians are coming here so they can vote Labor but hits time they will get it right, promise!
Ketut
Funny Mr Newman thought the same

Crisafulli turned into a ‘gunna’. He was ‘gunna’ to fix Queensland within the first 100 days of taking office.
Turned out that Crisafulli is a talker in a crisp white shirt, and not a doer.

All politicians over promise and under deliver. DC also promised no new stadiums would be built for the olympics but then spends money on a heap of reviews, including on Olympic venues, and then can blame others for his lies as he just follows what comes out of reviews, that he paid for and likely asked for specific outcomes…
Labor is lost
Paul
Labor don’t stand a chance in QLD.
Errol
Q’ld Labor Opposition has a majority of Socialist Left members, as it did when in Gov and was and still is ruled by the Union Left movement, which includes the CFMEU, these Unions are bascilly the bosses of the Labor Party, from which the Labor Party has draw the majorirty its members.
Mark
Labor is a joke, David Crisafulli cannot fix 10 years of mismanagement by Giggles and Co overnight.
Kevin
The LNP inherited a mess, it will take longer than 12 months to repair Labors mismanagement. If people look at Labor again they have very short memories.
