Queenslanders did not hold back on their views of the CFMEU after claims members were physically assaulted by a contracted security guard at a Brisbane worksite following a tense stand-off.
The Centenary Bridge upgrade site in the southwest suburb of Jindalee was locked off after CFMEU workers arrived just after 1pm on Tuesday.
Workers inside the site locked the gates and works were at a standstill as about 50 CFMEU workers surrounded the Jindalee site.
CFMEU state secretary Michael Ravbar said two CFMEU organisers were physically assaulted for “simply doing their job”.
Mr Ravbar accused the security guard contractor as “brazenly defying workplace laws to hinder and obstruct union officials”.

He said it comes after “two failed applications to the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission to have interim orders made against CFMEU officials”.
The engineering firm BMD Constructions, who contracted the security guard, declined to comment.
Premier Steven Miles once again left the battle between CFMEU and workers on project sites to be dealt with by independent industrial relations bodies.
However many readers were quick to pile on the CFMEU after a string of recent protests, adding to the powerful union’s long list of dramas over the years.

WHAT YOU SAID
CFMEU is a joke

Ever been to a Union stop work meeting? The foul mouthed threats and vitriol are almost beyond belief. Mob rule indeed!

The CFMEU are out of control.

This kind of old school intimidation does nothing to support diversity or to attract females into the construction sector. It’s incredibly disappointing!

The unions are nothing more than a money making cesspit that’s 50 years past their use by date the whole lot of them need to be abolished their no longer for the worker & haven’t been for nearly half a century
Step up, Premier
William
Miles is too gutless to intervene. He has been told what to do by his bosses.

That’s how we roll in QLD … …

Another example of unions and the power they yield. Coercive control and behaviour.

A lot of commentators asking why they are doing these apparent negative actions in an election year. If you look at the big picture, they probably realise the ALP are a lost cause at the next election so are trying to spread their tentacles as far as they can before “they” lose power in this State.
Time for change

One only needs to look to Victoria and the basket case it is under Andrews and his Union friends
Socialism at work or should it be putting people out of work

I don’t condone violence at all but let me get this straight.......it is not OK for union members to be assaulted for “doing their job” but it is OK for union members to assault other workers who want to go to site and do their job?
Stevo
CFMEU lost all credibility years ago. Just do your job for a fair wage and stop carrying on like primadonnas.
Bev
Drove past the site about 2.00pm there were more people inside of the site wanting to work than CFMEU outside with their bikie mates outside
