Opposition Leader David Crisafulli jumped at the opportunity to headline the Queensland Media Club after Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk cancelled the longstanding commitment due to apparent scheduling issues.

Amid a series of claims the Premier has dodged key recent events, as well as polling showing her declining popularity, Mr Crisafulli appeared to take his chance to be front and centre.

Ms Palaszczuk was due to front Media Club — the Brisbane version of the National Press Club — on November 21, where she would have made a keynote address before taking questions from the press gallery.

But organisers were told she would no longer be coming.

There was no official reason given, though scheduling issues have been floated as a factor.

Mr Crisafulli has officially been locked in as a replacement, with the event now billed as an opportunity to hear from and interrogate the ideas of the “alternative Premier” a year out from the election.

Ms Palaszczuk has not fronted the Media Club in this term of government.

News that the Premier would not attend divided many readers, with some claiming it was another sign of a failing government; others, however, weren’t sold on the alternative.

You have to laugh. Cameron Dick had been seen walking around with a glossy brochure under arm and then ridiculed. Crisafulli had the same recently but hey, look at this he’s got it all worked out with some important documents under his arm! If you ever want hypocrisy, look towards the LNP and their supporters.
