A pedestrian and motorcyclist have died in separate incidents on the state’s roads overnight.

In the Southern Highlands, a driver was charged after a pedestrian was struck and killed in a crash on a rural road.

Paramedics were called to Colo Rd at Colo Vale shortly before 6pm following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car.

Officers arrived to find a man had been struck by a white Volkswagen station wagon.

The man, believed to be in his 80s, died at the scene, despite the effort of paramedics.

He is yet to be formally identified. 

The driver, a 46-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. 

A crime scene was established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this crash commenced. 

Following inquiries, the man was arrested and taken to Southern Highlands Police Station, where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, and his licence was suspended. 

He was refused bail to appear before Picton Local Court on Wednesday. 

Hours earlier, a motorcyclist died after a fatal crash in the state’s Northern Tablelands. 

Paramedics were called to Emmaville Rd in Glen Innes just before 4.30pm following reports of a single-vehicle crash.

The rider, a man believed to be in his late teens, died at the scene. 

He is yet to be formally identified. 

It comes after a 79-year-old was fatally struck in an alleged hit-and-run in Sydney’s west on Sunday night. 

Officers were called to Abell Rd in Melonba shortly before midnight on Sunday following reports an injured man was found lying on the side of the road.

Mr Shrestha, 79, was found unconscious and treated by paramedics but couldn’t be revived. 

He was visiting Australia from Nepal to celebrate his daughter’s 25th wedding anniversary, 7 News reported. 

“Very lovely man and a family man,” his daughter told 7 News. “He always looked after us.”

The manhunt for the driver is ongoing.
