‘Lovely man’: Tributes flow for pedestrian after fatal hit-and-run in Sydney’s west, police probe underway
Police continue the search for the driver of a blue coupe they believe was involved in a hit-and-run collision that killed a pedestrian aged in his 70s, as the victim’s identity is revealed.

The elderly pedestrian who was fatally struck in an alleged hit-and-run in Sydney’s west has been identified as Damodar Shrestha, a Nepalese international.
Officers were called to Abell Rd in Melonba shortly before midnight on Sunday following reports an injured man was found lying on the side of the road.
Mr Shrestha, 79, was found unconscious and treated by paramedics but couldn’t be revived.
He was visiting Australia from Nepal to celebrate his daughter’s 25th wedding anniversary, 7 News reported.
“Very lovely man and a family man,” his daughter told 7 News.
“He always looked after us.”
Officers attached to Mount Druitt Police Area Command established a crime scene which was forensically examined by specialist officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit.
Strike Force Eustace has been established to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Following inquiries, officers have released images and video and are appealing for the public’s help to identify a small dark coloured sedan or coupe in the area at the time of the incident and people traveling inside.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
