Eight dead in six days on NSW roads ahead of holiday season
Eight people have died in crashes across NSW since Friday taking the year’s road toll to 332, less than a fortnight before Christmas.

A motorbike and bus collided in Sydney’s west overnight, killing a teenager.
Emergency services were called to McCredie Rd in Guildford shortly before 11pm following reports of a crash.
A male – believed to be aged in his late teens - died at the scene.
A second male – also believed to be aged in late teens - was treated by paramedics for non-life-threatening injuries before being taken to Westmead Hospital for further treatment.
The latest fatality adds to a tragic six days on NSW roads, with eight lives lost in multiple crashes across the state since Friday.
The spate of incidents has pushed the state’s road toll to 332 for the year.
In the state’s Central West, two people were killed when a ute hit a tree and burst into flames on Henry Lawson Way at Ooma, north of Grenfell, late on Sunday night.
Emergency services found the vehicle in flames, and despite efforts by the Ooma North Rural Fire Service, the two occupants died at the scene.
They are yet to be formally identified and police are investigating the crash.
Earlier on Sunday morning, a 26-year-old man died in a two-vehicle collision on the Newell Highway near Tomingley, southwest of Dubbo.
His ute collided with a truck, killing him at the scene.
The truck driver, a 37-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
In Armidale, two people lost their lives after a car collided with a group of cyclists on Long Swamp Road on Saturday afternoon.
A male cyclist in his 60s was killed instantly, while the 30-year-old driver of the car, who became trapped in the wreckage, later died in hospital.
Three other cyclists were injured but remain in stable condition.
Later that day, emergency services responded to a single-vehicle crash near Wee Waa in the state’s northwest.
The driver, the sole occupant of the utility, died at the scene after the vehicle rolled on Culgoora Road.
He is yet to be formally identified.
The horror weekend began late Friday night, when a man in his 40s was killed in a collision involving two trucks on the Hume Highway near Gunning in the state’s south.
The second driver, a 25-year-old man, escaped injury and was taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
The eastbound lanes of the highway were closed for hours as police investigated the crash.
Police have appealed for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of these incidents to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
The death toll has served as a reminder of the risks on the road during the holiday season, with authorities urging all road users to stay vigilant.
