A 20-year-old man has been charged following a violent brawl involving players and spectators at a local soccer match in Sydney’s south over the weekend.
St George Police officers were called to Gannons Park in Peakhurst around 4.50pm on Saturday after receiving reports that up to 40 fans and players were involved in a fight during a local match.
Police arrived within minutes, but the crowd had already dispersed. No injuries or property damage were reported at the time.
Following investigations and a public appeal for information, a 20-year-old man was arrested at Kogarah Police Station on Tuesday and has since been charged with affray.
The man was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Sutherland Local Court on Wednesday.
Inquiries into the incident remain ongoing, with police continuing to review footage and speak with witnesses.
No one else at the time of this publication has been charged.
