Oran Park: Greenfields Development Company lodges plans for commercial towers

A $93m plan to build two office towers in the heart of a booming suburb – just 20 minutes from the future Western Sydney International Airport – is all part of the developer’s vision to create more than 10,000 jobs.

A $93m plan to build two office towers in the heart of a booming Sydney suburb is all part of the developer’s vision to create more than 10,000 jobs in the area.

Plans have been submitted to build two six-storey commercial buildings above a single basement car park on Central Ave, between Dairy St and Peter Brock Dr, at Oran Park in Sydney’s southwest.

Papers submitted to council state the construction will be staged to allow occupation of the first building prior to completion of the second and will complement the existing six and seven-storey residential and commercial buildings approved in the town centre which are at various stages of construction and occupation.

Greenfields Development Company general manager Mick Owens said the plans were part of their vision to create thousands of new jobs in the region and be an employment hub that would complement the new airport.

“It’s all part of our plan to create a self-contained town for people to live here, but also more importantly to work here,” he said.

Plans have been submitted for construction of two six-storey commercial buildings on Central Ave, Oran Park.

“We want to create at least 10,000 new jobs in the town centre and this is all part of providing those commercial spaces to support the office environments.”

Mr Owens said the first two commercial buildings have seen great success.

He said the University of Notre Dame was to soon begin its fit out for a study centre in the second building with local high school students to be able to access accelerated HSC study and revision programs.

The centre will also give Oran Park-based students the opportunity to begin their Notre Dame degrees locally via “sub-bachelor programs”.

The proposal for the commercial buildings also includes a private roadway and a common basement driveway access and a new public road along the northern edge – which will be submitted in separate plans – to provide access to the private road.

The site is situated about 200m of the Oran Park Podium retail centre, and 500m from the future Oran Park train station.

Mr Owens said the multimillion-dollar major expansion of Oran Park Podium would partially open this year, with the full centre set to open in 2024.
