A man has been refused bail after he was allegedly caught travelling double the speed limit before he led police on a chase through a red light, crashing into multiple cars.

Jason Cicerkofski, 32, had to be tasered after he allegedly tried to make an escape on foot before police found a gun, ammunition and drugs inside his car.

The Bexley man did not apply for bail and it was formally refused when he appeared in Sutherland Local Court on Monday.

Police allege Cicerkofski was driving a black Nissan Qashqai sedan about 7.15pm on Forest Rd, Peakhurst when Traffic and Highway Patrol officers attempted to stop him after he was allegedly clocked travelling 120km/h in a 60km/h zone.

Cicerkofski allegedly did not stop and accelerated away before he ran a red light at the intersection of Forest Rd and Stony Creek Rd.

He collided with three other vehicles, with the impact pushing Cicerkofski’s sedan onto the wrong side of the road.

Police allege Cicerkofski got out of the car when it became disabled and attempted to run away, forcing officers to pursue him on foot.

Police further allege he became aggressive towards officers, who tasered him before he tried to run away again before being arrested.

The court heard the drivers and passengers of the other three vehicles, which had airbags deployed, sustained minor injuries with one woman taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.

Cicerkofski’s licence was cancelled and he allegedly did not stop to render assistance to the injured people.

A female passenger was arrested at the scene and questioned before being released.

Police conducted a search of the sedan and seized a silver pistol with a black grip, three rounds of ammunition and illicit drugs including methylamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, Alprazolam and testosterone, along with $24,450 in cash.

Cicerkofski was taken to St George Hospital under police guard for treatment and mandatory testing.

Following his release from hospital on Sunday, he was taken to Kogarah Police Station and charged with 22 offences.

Those include driving dangerously in a police pursuit; failing to stop to assist after an impact caused injuries; not giving left change of direction signal with lights; drive while licence cancelled and six counts of not giving particulars to another driver and injured person.

He was further charged with possessing an unauthorised pistol; two counts of possessing ammunition without holding a licence; three counts of acquiring a pistol and ammunition when subject to firearms prohibition order; supplying a commercial quantity of prohibited drug; taking part in drug supply; two counts of possessing prohibited drugs; possessing prescribed restricted substances and knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime.

The court heard Cicerkofski suffered from multiple sclerosis and had physical injuries following a recent operation on his ankle, which he would need assistance with while in custody on remand.

Cicerkofski’s case was adjourned to May 7 at Downing Centre Local Court while his bail for unrelated matters was revoked.
