Bruce Lehrmann staying with widow of late Supreme Court judge

After moving twice within a matter of weeks, Bruce Lehrmann is now staying with a surprising but sympathetic host in the eastern suburbs.

It sounds absurd, but Bruce Lehrmann has been holed up in the home of a late Supreme Court judge for four days.

With Justice Michael Lee to deliver his judgment on Monday in the defamation case Lehrmann brought against Network Ten and Lisa Wilkinson, Sunday Confidential can reveal the former Liberal staffer has been staying at the judge’s home, now occupied by his widow.

And the woman is, according to those camping out at the property, “appalled by the treatment of Bruce in the media”.

According to sources, this isn’t the first time Lehrmann has been a guest at the eastern suburbs home, and he has “met with her on many occasions”.

“Bruce has been here for a couple of nights,” they said on Saturday. “His car is here, as is his belongings and also his dog. He has been here for the last 72 hours.”

Lehrmann has been staying at the property since Thursday, after leaving a friend’s North Sydney home, where he had been partying all week.

Paul Farrell had been letting the 28-year-old stay in his spare room, but had become so annoyed by the intense media attention that he asked him to leave.

Neighbours were also fed up with the karaoke nights, a constant contingent of photographers, and barefoot women clutching bottles of whisky coming and going.

Farrell has told the media that Lehrmann, who is awaiting the outcome of his multimillion-dollar defamation case, left the building on Thursday.

“Yes, I can confirm he is no longer here,” he said.

“He was only staying for a few days.’’ Asked where Lehrmann was going, Farrell said he was “not sure, to be honest”.

“He has somewhere else organised, but I’m not sure where.”

Lehrmann was also forced to move out of his $2000-a-week property in the northern beaches last week when his deal with Channel 7 for exclusive interviews in exchange for a year’s worth of accommodation came to an end.
