Tim Robards is ringing in his 40th year with a challenge.

The Bachelor star, model, and TV personality is clocking up 50 kilometres carrying a 10kg weight pack, as an ambassador for the Top Blokes Foundation.

Over the month of October, Robards is ‘lifting the load’ to raise awareness about men’s mental health.

He also celebrated early, by spending the long weekend with family and friends at the Crown Hotel in Sydney.

Robards said he’s getting involved for his 2-year-old daughter Elle, who he shares with OG Bachelor AU wife Anna Heinrich.

“75 per cent of men under the age of 24 have already developed mental health issues,” he told Confidential.

Robards sat in on the Top Blokes classes at Cronulla high school, which teach at-risk youth how to break down toxic masculinity, and talk about their feelings, empathy, and things as simple as whether it’s okay to have long hair and like painting.

“This stuff wasn’t taught when I was in school,” he said. “I luckily had parents that educated me pretty well, but not everyone has that.”

“I’ve got a daughter. A lot of this stuff turns into potentially violent behaviour towards women, and in the family. These classes are giving thousands of boys, who could have gone the other way, tools to work through mental health.”

Robards was “in awe of the progression” boys graduating the program had made.

“We all go through ups and downs, times of being depressed. I get anxious, I get depressed. It’s about finding balance,” he said.

He’s clocking up the kilometres by wearing his vest alongside his daughter Elle, while she scooters.
