Police are amping up their presence at Casuarina following an increase in youth criminal activity.

POLICE are amping up their presence at Casuarina with the mounted unit, police dogs, traffic and foot patrols following an increase in youth criminal activity.

Superintendent Sean Parnell said police would be conducting high visibility patrols in the area.

“Most incidents have been general disturbances, however we have seen an aggravated assault, rock throwing, stealing and public drinking in the area,” he said.

“We have identified a number of offenders through CCTV. With the Easter weekend just gone and the school holidays fast approaching, we reassure the community that we are taking every effort to ensure the young people in the area behave themselves.

“Police are working closely with colleagues at the Department of Education, Larrakia Aboriginal Corporation and Territory Families around school holiday activities and other engagement strategies.”
